How do I register my child at Addenbrooke?
We’re so glad you asked! Plan on joining us for a Tuesday 9:00 a.m. tour where we will share all the great things ACA has to offer and acquaint you with our campus. Then follow us on over to our Enrollment page for information regarding registration and immunization requirements.
Does ACA offer transportation to and from school?
No, we do not. We encourage the use of carpools among our ACA families; however, we do not make carpool arrangements. We invite you to utilize Schoolpool to make arranging carpools easier.
Since ACA is a charter school, is there a tuition fee?
No, we are a free, public charter school operating under Jeffco Public Schools. However, like other public schools, we may charge fees to cover specific costs. We offer payment plans as well as income-based reductions.
How can I find out if school is cancelled due to bad weather conditions?
We will close the school if Jeffco Public Schools determines the weather poses a safety risk to our students and staff. You can tune in to the major radio or television stations for snow closure announcements. Please be aware that ACA reserves the right to close or delay a start time, even when the district chooses to stay open. For district-wide closure information, you can also call (303) 982-6600 or check the Jeffco Alerts page. Please do not call our school office.
In the event of emergency dismissals for tornadoes, snowstorms, or other weather-related dismissals, we request that all parents stay in the foyer unless otherwise directed. We will not allow parents to pick up children other than their own without written permission.
My child needs to take medication during the school day. How do I set this up?
Please complete medication form #924, and send all prescription medication and over-the-counter medication to the clinic in its original, labeled container with a date, the name of the child, the name of the medication, dispensing directions, and the name and telephone number of the doctor prescribing the medication. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that there is an ample supply of medication for the student. Students may not self-medicate at the school.
May I volunteer in the classroom or visit my child on campus?
Yes. We welcome visitors and volunteers in the classroom as long as they do not cause any disruption. However, we are a closed campus and require all visitors and volunteers to check in and out at the school office. We require every visitor or volunteer in the building to provide a drivers license or state ID to check in and to wear a name tag while on our campus. For classroom observations, please schedule with the school registrar at least one day in advance.
A charter school, as a publicly funded elementary or secondary school, enjoys freedom from some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools. This is usually in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results, which are set forth in each school’s charter. Charter school founders are often teachers, parents, or activists who want to bring an innovative approach to the local public school community.
Is Addenbrooke a Jeffco school, and how is Addenbrooke governed?
Yes it is. Addenbrooke Classical is located within the boundaries and charter through Jeffco Public School District. We are self-governed by our own board of directors. As a public institution, ACA conducts open board meetings.
